  6. Inorganic Arsenic (iAs)

  7. Acrylamide
    Acrylamide is a chemical substance formed by a reaction between amino acids and sugars. It typically occurs when foods with high starch content such as potatoes, root vegetables and bread, are cooked at high temperatures (over 120°C) in a process of frying, roasting or baking.
  8. Bisphenol A - Food and Beverage, Infant Formula, or Food Packaging Samples
    Bisphenol A is employed to make certain plastics and epoxy resins. BPA-based plastic is clear and tough, and is made into a variety of common consumer goods, such as water bottles. Epoxy resins containing are also used as coatings on the inside of many food and beverage cans.

  10. 3-MCPD Analysis
    3-MCPD (3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol), 2-MCPD (2-monochloropropane-1,2-diol) and glycidyl esters are a by-product of processing or refining edible oils and fats and are only relatively recent in their discovery.
  11. Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids

    Pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) are a group of toxins produced by several species of plants, that typically grow as weeds. Contamination of other plant crops with PAs, e.g. teas and herbal products can occur as a result of small amounts of these weeds being included with these crops.

    These toxins are a potential risk for consumers as they can enter the food chain. Fera has developed an LC-MSMS method to analyse for 28 pyrrolizidine alkaloids each with a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 1 μg/kg.
