  1. Chloramphenicol
    Fera’s food safety experts can accurately identify Chloramphenicol within your food sample, and quantify the amount present. Chloramphenicol glucuronide can also be sought in selected tissues within your sample.
  2. Nitrofurans
    Fera food safety experts are ideally suited to highlight and quantify a range of Nitrofurans within your food sample. Making use of extensive, industry accepted techniques our accurate results are invaluable when meeting regulations.
  3. Veterinary Medicines Multi-Residue Screen (Option 1)

    Within this multi-residue screen, Option 1, Fera food safety experts highlight the presence of over 60 antimicrobial veterinary medicine residues within a single screen. The classes of antimicrobial substances covered include b-lactams, cephalosporins, macrolides, quindones, sulfonamides and tetracyclines.

  4. Aminoglycosides
    In veterinary medicine in the European Union (EU), Aminoglycosides (AGs) account for 3.5% of the total sales of antimicrobials. Fera's food safety experts can highlight the presence of Aminoglycosides across a range of food types including: fish, red meat, honey, and milk.
  5. Avermectins
    The avermectins are a series of drugs used to treat parasitic worms. Fera food safety experts make use of innovative testing methods to highlight the levels of a comprehensive range of avermectins, within your food samples. We can also provide the evidence required by regulators to verify that the levels of avermectins within your food products are compliant.
  6. β-agonists
    β-Agonists (beta-agonists or Beta adrenergic agonists) are used in veterinary medicine to treat pulmonary disorders, but have also been used illegally as growth promoters for more efficient meat production. Fera’s food safety scientists can screen your food samples to check residue levels and confirm they are not present where not permitted, for example from use as illicit growth promoters in the EU.
  7. Nitroimidazole
    Nitroimidazoles are a group of drugs that have both antiprotozoal and antibacterial activity and have been used, for example, to control histomoniasis (a protozoal infection) in poultry. In the EU they are prohibited from use as veterinary medicines.
  8. Tiamulin
    Food safety experts at Fera can screen your samples for residues of the veterinary medicine, tiamulin, highlighting their presence and quantifying levels present. Tiamulin is a member of the pleuromutilin class of antibiotic drugs that is used in the treatment of bacterial infections particularly for pigs and poultry.
