Thyrostats (Urine)Thyrostats inhibit the production of thyroid hormones, with the resulting side effect of this being weight gain, mainly due to increased water absorption and retention. Due to the weight gain side effect, thyrostats have been illicitly used to increase the weight of cattle prior to slaughter.
