Globally recognised provider of proficiency tests, running over 400 tests annually across an extensive range of matrices and analytes
A single sample taken by an ecologist at any time during the newt breeding season can determine their presence or absence, saving you time and money
After completing a PhD in NMR spectroscopy at York University, she joined Fera’s predecessor as an analytical chemist working in the process contaminants and natural toxicants areas of food safety, during which time she worked on several EU funded projects. Sarah then led a team working on commercial food analysis.
Sarah has a wealth of experience in science management, working in a number of different areas across Fera, (in both the Food and Plants Programmes) covering biology, chemistry and support sciences. Sarah joined Fapas® in January 2018 and continues to work closely with colleagues across Fera to grow and strengthen the proficiency testing services under the Fapas® brand.
We supply hundreds of proficiency tests a year to thousands of laboratories across all continents of the world, except Antarctica. We supply real matrix test samples for all routine analytical disciplines in the fields of food chemistry, food microbiology, genetically modified materials, drinking water chemistry and microbiology, environmental chemistry and microbiology.
Proficiency testing is an essential part of laboratory quality assurance and participation is an expected requirement of ISO 17025 accreditation. Fapas proficiency testing provides an independent assessment of your laboratory performance and compares your results to laboratories worldwide.
Our experts focus on the scientific research relating to intentionally added food components and to those arising from chemical changes during food processing, bioactive chemicals and natural toxicants.
Fera's analysts use industry leading techniques and cutting edge technologies to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, protecting public health and traceability.
