Jenny is a senior scientist at Fera. Her role is to oversee the molecular diagnostics in the Bacteriology team and to conduct research on plant pathogenic bacteria.
Jenny uses cutting-edge molecular biology techniques to facilitate the identification and diagnosis of plant pathogenic bacteria. Jenny continues to be involved in research on pathogens that are currently impacting UK crops and pathogens like Xylella fastidiosa that might pose a threat for the future.
Jenny is a subject-matter expert on Xylella fastidiosa and worked on the BRIGIT project, a multi-organisational research consortium which aimed to build UK capability to prevent establishment of Xylella fastidiosa and increase preparedness to respond. Jenny has visited Nigeria under the BASICS project, aiding the setup of the NASC Molecular Seed Testing Laboratory aiming to build a Sustainable, Integrated Seed System for Cassava in Nigeria
Jenny is currently involved in further research projects on Xylella fastidiosa and a project assessing the threats that some Xanthomonas species pose now and in the future to UK crops.
