Step 1 – Complete the Order Form

To order strains from the NCPPB complete the Order Form and return it to ncppb@fera.co.uk. A period of onboarding will take place for new customers after which orders will be processed. Please ensure you include the NCPPB number of the strain you wish to order, this information can be found in the NCPPB Catalogue. We aim to have your order in the post within two working days of successful registration and receipt of all the required paperwork. Certain strains in the NCPPB will require increased administration; we will inform you of any likely delays on receipt of your order. The Order Form asks you to abide by the terms and conditions set out in the Material Transfer Agreement and Fera Standard Terms and Conditions located at the end of the form.

Step 2 – Import, Export and Other Licences

Some orders require import or export licences to accompany the strains from the NCPPB. To save time, you are advised to check with your own authorities and submit any necessary paperwork with your order. Laboratories in the UK may require a scientific licence to hold strains from the NCPPB.

UK

Shipping to England and Wales: please contact the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) for advice.

Shipping to Scotland: please contact Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA) to arrange a Letter of Authority. Your Letter of Authority can be scanned and emailed to the NCPPB, a hardcopy is not necessary.

Shipping to Northern Ireland: please contact the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) to arrange a Letter of Authority. Your Letter of Authority can be scanned and emailed to the NCPPB, a hardcopy is not necessary.

Europe

When ordering bacteria which appear on the ‘EPPO A1 and A2 Lists of pests recommended for regulation as quarantine pests’, European countries will require a Letter of Authority from their National Plant Protection Organisation to accompany their order. Your Letter of Authority can be scanned and emailed to the NCPPB, a hardcopy is not necessary.

All Overseas Countries

All overseas countries ordering bacteria which appear on the Australia Group List of Plant Pathogens for Export Control require an export licence from the British Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The NCPPB organise the application for the licence, which usually takes 20 working days to receive. 

USA

Orders shipped to the USA often require an import permit and barcoded package label from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Please contact the USDA to arrange this.
