Globally recognised provider of proficiency tests, running over 400 tests annually across an extensive range of matrices and analytes
A single sample taken by an ecologist at any time during the newt breeding season can determine their presence or absence, saving you time and money
Are you confident that the potential levels of Fumonisins of your supply chain are within the legislative levels? Fera Science Limited can analyse maize based food or feed samples to measure levels of fumonisins (FB1, FB2 and FB3). The methods used are fully compliant with EU contaminants legislation to allow you to assess your compliance with regulatory limits in place.
Fera is the UK National Reference Laboratory for Mycotoxins and Plant Toxins in Food and Feed, if you would like to know more about the relevant regulations, please follow the link below:
The method used is fully accredited to ISO17025 for maize based food and feed samples and uses an immunoaffinity column clean-up with LCMSMS detection. Matrix optimised extraction protocols coupled with highly specific clean-up protocols and detection techniques allow the analysis to respond optimally for challenging matrices so we can be sure the results produced are fit for purpose, accurate and precise.
Regulatory limits for FB1 and FB2 are laid down in multiple EU regulations/recommendations and their amendments. Fumonisins are a group of naturally occurring chemicals, called mycotoxins, that are produced by moulds. Fumonisins are metabolites of Fusarium moniliforme, a fungus which grows specifically on corn and have been found to naturally contaminate maize and maize based foods worldwide. Fumonisins are stable during most types of processing e.g. dry milling, which can lead to the distribution of fumonisins into the bran, germ and flour. In animals the toxic effect of fumonisins varies significantly from species to species hence the importance of testing.
