Globally recognised provider of proficiency tests, running over 400 tests annually across an extensive range of matrices and analytes
A single sample taken by an ecologist at any time during the newt breeding season can determine their presence or absence, saving you time and money
Fera Science Limited can analyse food or feed samples to measure levels of Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, G2, total Aflatoxins and Ochratoxin A. The methods used are fully compliant with EU contaminants legislation to allow you to assess your compliance with regulatory limits in place.
Fera is the UK National Reference Laboratory for Mycotoxins and Plant Toxins in Food and Feed, if you would like to know more about the relevant regulations, please follow the link below:
Mycotoxins are a group of naturally occurring toxic chemicals produced by a range of moulds. These moulds can grow on a range of crops and as they thrive in warm, humid conditions their presence can be used as an indicator of food quality from both field growth and storage conditions.
Aflatoxins are a subset of mycotoxins formed by fungi, most commonly Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. It is important to control their presence within a range of foodstuffs and feed due to the potentially harmful effects on consumers and/or livestock, when consumed in significant quantities.
Ochratoxin A is another food and feed contaminating mycotoxin often produced by Aspergillus ochraceus or Penicillium verrucosum. Human exposure can occur through consumption of contaminated food products.
The method used is fully accredited to ISO17025 for food and feed samples and is based on a multi-toxin immunoaffinity column clean-up with HPLC-fluorescence detection. Matrix optimised extraction protocols coupled with highly specific clean-up protocols allow the analysis to respond optimally for challenging matrices so we can be sure the results produced are fit for purpose, accurate and precise.
