Fera food safety experts can both identify (screen) and quantify Fipronil and metabolite residues within a food sample using state of the art LC-MS/MS equipment. We can offer this test in a range of food samples including eggs.

This data can be vital to managing your production processes, demonstrating that they are fit for purpose, and providing strong evidence to regulators and consumers about the safety of your food products and compliance with various regulations, including Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs).

Fipronil is a broad spectrum insecticide that is widely used within mite and flea control products, most notable within pet products. Although it is allowed for use in a number of industries, its use within the production of food for consumption is strictly prohibited. As such is it imperative to highlight it’s presence within a number of foodstuffs quickly and effectively.

As many commercial pesticides are a complex range of different chemicals, it is important to ensure that a wide range of pesticide residues are monitored for in your food samples. Our fast turnaround times (1-10 working days) ensure that results are readily available and you can quickly address any potential issues should they be identified. With recent media interest in the use of fipronil it is important to put consumers at ease with the effective food testing measures Fera offers. Testing can also be carried out an a range of egg related products such as liquid egg used in the cake and baking industry.

Our analysis requires only a 10g sample of your foodstuffs to ensure accurate results, but a bigger sample (typically 1kg) may be required to comply with EU and Codex regulations.
