12th European Pesticide Residue Workshop, 22 May - 25 May 2018 in Munich, Germany under the patronage of the Bavarian Health and Food Safety Authority (LGL - Bayerisches Landesamt für Gesundheit und Lebensmittelsicherheit).
Since the first workshop 1996 which was held in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, EPRW has evolved into a worldwide recognised platform in the field of pesticide residues. EPRW is known far beyond European borders and it is expected that more than 500 participants from most continents will be in attendance. The Workshop will cover the latest concepts and developments in the field of pesticides in food and drink. It will provide a platform for the exchange of information and experience and it will connect people from each of the relevant sectors. In attendance will be representatives from government and commercial laboratories, public authorities, regulatory bodies, food producers, processors, retailers, agrochemical manufacturers and all other interested parties.
Dr Sadat Nawaz - 'Assessment of the effectiveness and benefits of different calibration techniques for quantifying pesticide residues' (Day 3 - 24 May 2018) 15.15-15.35
Fera is one of three UK laboratories that undertakes the analysis of food samples for the UK national monitoring programme for the Defra Expert Committee on Pesticide Residues in Food (PRiF). This programme also incorporates the requirement for the EU Co-oordinated multiannual control programme implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2017/660.
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) annually prepares a comprehensive report based on the residue results submitted by each member state: The 2013 European Union Report on Pesticide Residues in Food.
Both the UK and EU programmes are undertaken to ensure compliance with Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) as stipulated in Commission Regulation (EC) No. 396/2005, and to assess consumer exposure to pesticide residues in and on food of plant and animal origins.
