Pseudomonas syringae pv. pisi, more commonly known as pea bacterial blight. Infection causes water-soaked spots which may coalesce into larger lesions. Symptoms can present on all aerial plant parts, but are most characteristic on stems and leaves. Infection may spread causing plants to wither and die. The disease can be spread by planting infected seed.
When sending plant pathogens and invertebrate samples from outside England and Wales for testing please email the Crop health team (crophealth@fera.co.uk) who will issue you with the relevant Letter of Authority to ensure your samples are not delayed upon entry to the UK.
