Richard uses his leadership and Board experience, along with his Government knowledge, to lead the Board and support, guide and challenge the executive to help deliver current and future success for Fera.
Career History
After 24 years in the housing association sector, ending as the Chief Executive of Peabody Trust and Chair of the National Housing Federation, Richard became the Director General at what is now the Department for Levelling-Up, Housing and Communities responsible for housing, planning, regeneration, local economies and building standards in 2003.
Richard then moved to Capita in 2012, intially as an Executive Director in the Capita's property business and then as the Group Senior Director for Government Affairs and Non-Executive Director of Fera, Axelos (both Governement Joint Ventures until the disposal of Axelos in July 2021) and the Data and Communications Company (a monopoly licence company responsbile for the design, implementation and operation of the Smart Meters telecommunications network across Great Britain).
Richard retired from his Government Affiars role in October 2021 to focus on his Non-Executive portfolio. In addition to Fera and DCC this includes being the Chairman of Andium Homes in Jersey, the States owned provider of affordable housing on the Island) and on the Boards of Funding Affordable Homes and the Horder Healthcare charity in East Sussex.
